| The Eco Bracelet has hand made glass beads,created from recycled glass, in Ghana. It is on an elastic band.It is approx. 7.5 " in size. Due to the individuality of bead,each size of the bracelet is approximate. The beads are handcrafted in the Krobo Bead Cooperative in the town of Odumase-Krobo,in Ghana's Eastern Region.Most of the people in the cooperative are Ashanti and Krobo. Bead making is a centuries old art form,passed down through generations. There are 4 main styles of beads-clear,powdered,painted and seed beads. Beads still hold great meaning in modern culture. They are used in ceremonies for birth,death,marriage, coming of age and various festivals in the towns. The Bead Making Center was founded by Gladys Adimer and Thomas Amuzu in 2007. They provide employment to many young women who are struggling to make ends meet. |
